The survey „Health care workers originating from the Republic of Moldova that live and work in Romania” was carried out by CIC SocioPolis at the request of the World Health Organization Office in the Republic of Moldova, within September 2013 – January 2014. The study targeted to investigate the situation of health professionals employed in the healthcare system of Romania, factors that motivated their migration, problems they face but also their future projections.
The specific objectives of the research were directed towards the following aspects:
(i) assessment of the feasibility of the health care system of Romania in order to monitor the situation of health care workers originating from the Republic of Moldova;
(ii) estimation of the number and socio-demographic characteristics of health professionals originating from the Republic of Moldova employed in the healthcare system from Romania;
(iii) analysis of motivating factors that determined the migration of workers to Romania;
(iv) evaluation of degree of occupational integration of health professionals originating from Moldova that emigrated to Romania;
(v) submission of recommendations for the development of certain policies and interventions that will help medical staff that immigrated to Romania find a job according to their qualification.
