May 2015 Dialogue platform to strengthen qualifications of people providing social services to children at risk and children left behind

On 18th of May 2015, at the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, a round table was organized to strengthen the qualifications of providers of social services for children at risk and those left behind. During this meeting, participants were being acquainted with the results of the study „Needs of providers of social services to children at risk and children left behind” but also with the training curriculum „The psychosociology of the relationship between the child and the specialist of social field” for specialists employed within social services for children at risk and children left behind.

The invitation to participate to the round table was accepted by the representatives of the Protection of Family and Children’s Rights Department within the MLSPF, active NGOs that have experience in the development and support of social services designed for children at risk and children left behind such as Alliance of active NGOs in the field of Social Protection of Children and Family (APSCF), P.A. Child Community and Family (CCF Moldova), P.A. Partnerships for every child, P.A. Concordia but also people providing social services within Day Care Centres or Temporary Placement Centres, specialists of territorial social assistance and family protection structures, professional parental assistants and parent educators.

The outcomes of the study were tackled during discussions, its scope approaching also the assessment of training needs of specialists employed in the social field. The presentation of the draft curriculum generated a range of ideas and suggestions for completing its content that will correspond more exactly to the desired goal.

Next steps involve the completing of the training curriculum for specialists providing social services to children at risk and children left behind taking
into consideration ideas suggested by participants to the dialogue platform.
