December 2014 Strengthening qualification of people providing social services to children and youth from Moldova

Beginning with 15th September 2014, Caritas Czech Republic and Centre for Investigations and Consultation „SocioPolis” in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, with the financial support of Czech Development Agency are implementing the project „Strengthening qualification of people providing social services to children and youth from Moldova”.

The project aims to contribute to the strengthening of knowledge and skills of staff providing social services to children by transferring the best practices and international experience in raising and educating children left behind and children at risk. Main project activities will focus on finding out the needs of children left behind and those of specialists providing services to these children, working out a training curriculum, methodological guidelines and a Course Support for specialists according to the needs identified.

Within the framework of this project, during December 7th – 13th 2014, representatives of the Protection of Family and Children Rights Department of the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, project’s team of experts and representatives of NGOs operating in the field of social protection of children from the Republic of Moldova participated in a study visit to the Czech Republic. During this visit, the team of experts from the Republic of Moldova got acquainted with the system of social protection of children from the Czech Republic, visited the municipality of the sector no. 14 from Prague, the municipality of Pardubice district but also various providers of social services for children at risk (Caritas, Natama, Lumos, Amaltheia).

The exchange of experience has allowed for the analysis of common and specific aspects related to social services designed for children at risk, but also of procedures and tools. The team of experts from the Republic of Moldova but also specialists employed in institutions from the Czech Republic showed their readiness for further cooperation and exchange of experience.
